Brownie mix in a Jar

This is great for a teacher gift or a "Thank You" gift for a friend.

What you will need:

1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1 cup flour
1 cup baking chips of your choice.  I used chocolate chips
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 quart size wide mouth Mason Jar

Mix the flour, salt and baking powder together, set aside.  Using a wide mouth funnel, add the ingredients to the jar in this order: Sugar, cocoa powder, flour mixture and baking chips.  Close the lid tightly.  On a note card write the following, then attach the card to the Mason Jar with a ribbon.

Additional ingredients:

1 stick of butter melted
2 eggs beaten
1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Directions for baking:

Preheat oven to 350.  Pour contents of Mason Jar into a mixing bowl.  In a separate bowl, mix together melted butter, beaten eggs and vanilla extract. Add to dry mixture and mix well.  Pour into foil lined pan sprayed with non-stick cooking spray.  Bake for 25-30 minutes. Test with a toothpick to make sure it is done.  Cool completely in the pan before slicing.  To slice the brownies, remove the foil and brownies from the pan and slice into squares. The brownies will slice evenly with little mess.  See pictures below.
